Woodrow Goforth, age 76, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Charles George VA Medical Center’s Hospice & Palliative Care in Asheville. The son of the late Hubert and Evie Walker Goforth, Woodrow was born in Madison County, North Carolina on November 22, 1941.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Thad Howell; three brothers, Louis Payne, Dennis Goforth and Bill Goforth.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Woodrow was a veteran of the United States Army.
Just having celebrated his 52-year wedding anniversary on July 2, 2018, Woodrow is survived by his loving wife, Christine Goforth; two sons, Roger Goforth and Dewayne Goforth (Anita); one daughter, Revonda Miller (Derek); one brother, Charles Goforth; and nine grandchildren, Alex Goforth, Kim Rosenfeld, Jacob Abts, Caleb Goforth, Ryan Bartlett, Hunter Goforth, Ridge Miller, Savannah Miller and Colin Miller. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Bobby Dodd; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Pate and Kay Goforth; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Woodrow will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Lawrence Westall officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park with military honors provided by the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
