William Rowland Young, II

William Rowland Young, II, age 73, of Spruce Pine, NC passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at his home, with his loving wife at his bedside. 

William was born September 29, 1945 in Brownwood, TX to the late William Young and Maxine Saunders Young.  He was raised in Detroit, MI and moved to Florida, as a young man, where he worked as a landscape contractor and met his wife, Sherry.  William was an entrepreneur and, over the years, he had many businesses and wasn’t afraid to try something new.  In 1998, William and Sherry moved to North Carolina and were the owner/operator of A Growing Alternative.  He loved everything about North Carolina and where he lived and his neighbors.  William was a character; always clowning around and making jokes.  He didn’t have any enemies and everyone that knew him loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son, William Young, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident at the age of 18.

Those left behind to cherish William’s memories are his beloved wife of 34 years, Sherry Mills Young; one sister, Jari Shira; two step-daughters, Brandy Douglass (Brad) and Dyan Herrin (Jacob); and one step-grandson, Caden Douglass.

In keeping with William’s wishes no services will be held at this time.
