WT Broadwell, 75, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, of Marion North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2019 after a 6-month battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded and embraced by his family.
WT is preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas, and Sarah Garnell Broadwell and his sister, Doris Dixon. Left to cherish all of the wonderful memories are his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Broadwell; son, Bill Broadwell and wife Angela; and daughter, Mollie McDaniel; two granddaughters, Haley Broadwell and Heather Burnette; one aunt, Katherine Gallion; five nieces and three nephews; and many cousins and friends.
WT loved the Lord and was a long-standing member of First Christian Church in Marion. He loved serving others at church through fellowship and in welcoming everyone who came through the door. WT never met a stranger; his Christ-like love and kindness and was an inspiration to all who knew him.
WT lived a full and happy life spending time with family, friends, and telling stories of growing up in East Marion. As all who knew him will remember, he was quite the fun-loving prankster who gave everyone endless laughter. WT could often be found telling jokes and funny stories to friends and family with his cup of coffee always in hand. He was an excellent athlete and stayed passionately involved with sports his whole life. He coached many kidsâ teams in the community along with umpiring and refereeing recreation leagues for many years. He was also a referee for professional wrestling matches all over the Southeast. WT was one of a kind and will be missed dearly.
Please join us in celebrating WTâs life Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at 4:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church of Marion (1709 Rutherford Road, Marion, North Carolina 28752) with Pastor Don Mitchell officiating. Receiving of friends will be from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M.
