William “Buddy” Ervin Martin, 84, of Old Fort, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023.
Buddy was born in McDowell County on September 10, 1938 to the late Washington Ervin Martin and Vallie Lucille Jaynes Martin. He was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church. Buddy was a great youth baseball coach who was a huge Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tiger Fan. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener who also enjoyed camping and the great outdoors. Traveling and woodworking were some of the other things he loved.
Buddy was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by his friends and loved ones.
Surviving Buddy are his wife of sixty two years, Katie McDaniel Martin; four children, Graylin Martin, David Martin (Kathy), Suzanne M. Moore (Bill) and Andrew Martin (Caryn); a sister, Patricia Ann Martin Reynolds; a brother, Col. Dan Jaynes; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and special friend Florence Young.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Jim Lewis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
