William Wallace Ledford, age 73, of Marion, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Charles George VA Medical Center’s Inpatient Hospice Unit in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born on November 27, 1945, he was the son of the late Jack and Ruby Rathbone Ledford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Ledford.
A veteran of the United States Army, William, who dearly loved his family, was a member of the Coin Club, American Legion and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Marion.
Mr. Ledford is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy Ledford; one daughter, Michelle Bowling; two sons, Timothy Ledford and Robert Ledford; three brothers, Jackie Ledford, Donnie Ledford and Gary Ledford; and one sister, Betty Polyodorus. He is also survived by four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Dr. Tom Walker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
A private interment will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
