William Albert Gwyn, age 67, of Elk Park, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his residence, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Banner Elk, North Carolina on January 13, 1952, he was the son of the late Howard and Clara Holtsclaw Gwyn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Hughes, Barbara Woody and Shirley Harmon; and one brother, David Gwyn.
A man who loved life, William enjoyed spending time with his family and was known for his sense of humor. He had a passion for landscaping, hiking and camping. Up until his health began to decline, William was attending Curtis Creek Baptist Church in the Heaton Community of Avery County.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 46 years, Rosalie Cordell Gwyn; one daughter, Kawana Hanick (Tony); one son, Christopher Gwyn (Maria); two brothers, Lawson Gwyn (Leslie) and Mack Gwyn (Bertie); six grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Lettie, Hali, Gracie and Hope; two great grandchildren, Analie and Kylie; and a special canine companion, Molly.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date and will be announced once it has been confirmed.
