William Eugene Greene

On Saturday, November 09, 2019, William Eugene Greene went home to be with the Lord and Savior after continuous heart complications.

Gene was born on March 06, 1938 to the late Guy and Zella Greene in Spruce Pine North Carolina. He was blessed with his loving wife, Mary for fifty-nine years. Their sixtieth wedding anniversary would have been honored on November 19th. He loved fishing; especially with his beloved grandsons, and was known by many people as their “Papaw”.

Gene is preceded in death by his brother Ronald Greene and one sister, Frances Duncan.

He is survived by Mary, and their four children, Sherry Glenn and husband Gerald, Pam Stamey and husband John, Donna Manley and husband Ed, and Nichole Lewis and husband Greg; a sister, Carolyn Carpenter of Florida; grandchildren, Luke Glenn, Will Glenn, Jacob Glenn, Erica Hong, Emily Stamey, Jessica Wright, Jonah Stokely, Nathaniel Stokely, Zech Stokely and Marianna Hudgins; great grandchildren, Lila, Grayer, Hannah, Malachi, Emma, Adeline, Yael and Ezekiel Wright.

A funeral service to celebrate Gene’s homegoing will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at West Court Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeff Burchette and Rev. Jody McGaha officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow the service at West Court Baptist Church cemetery.
