William "Booter" Rex Boone

William “Booter” Rex Boone, 59, of Morganton, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, October 09, 2021 at his residence.

He was born in Buncombe County on April 12, 1962 to the late William Ray Boone and Lois Emmajean Sheehan Boone.

Booter was an avid fisherman who could catch a fish anywhere at any time. He loved computers, and he enjoyed operating CB and HAM radio. Drag racing was a favorite pastime of his that he shared with his family. He loved his family, particularly his grandkids, above all, and he liked to aggravate them.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother and two sisters, Carl Ray Boone, Betty Jean Pate, and Nancy Powell.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Boone; two children, Betty Jo Thompson and Jenny Boone; five grandchildren, Gabby Boone, Grayson Boone, Nicholas Sprouse, Desiree Thompson, and Dakota Thompson; and two siblings, Clyde Boone (Janet) and Becky Norman (Mike).

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church on Jamestown Road with Revs. Ricky Watkins and Billy Cogdell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
