William "Billy" Church, Jr.

William “Billy” Church, Jr., age 54, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 16, 2016 in Ridgecrest, California.  A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born January 28, 1962, he was the son of William “Eddie” and Irene Hall Church of Ellenboro. 

A talented musician who could play numerous instruments, Billy was a graduate of McDowell High School and attended Mars Hill College.  Billy retired as a long haul truck driver and when he was not playing an instrument, he enjoyed listening to bluegrass, old country and 80’s rock music.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Karen Holloway (William) of Marion; one son, John Church of Marion; siblings, Teresa Hartley (Scott) of Hudson, Mark Church (Kathy) of Nebo; and Regina Ramsey of Nebo; one grandson, Derrick Holloway; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Victory Temple Full Gospel Church in Nebo with Rev. Pete McComb officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
