William “Bill” Hartson Sexton, III, age 60, of Union Mills, North Carolina passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at McDowell Hospital with his beloved wife at his side.
Bill was born October 1, 1957 in Freehold, NJ to the late William Hartson Sexton, II and Helene L. Bradley. For most of his life, he worked as a Chef at various places including: cruise lines, Opryland in Nashville, TN, Grove Park Inn and Biltmore Forest Country Club. After his career as a successful chef, Bill suffered some hardships that led him to McDowell Mission Ministries as a client. He then worked his way up to becoming the Director of the John Thompson Center which he felt was his true calling. Bill was a very special and talented man, besides being a chef, he was also a bartender known as “Gypsy”. He was a musician and could play any percussion or string instrument, he was also a magician and had amazing entertainment abilities. He was intelligent and witty and had a great sense of humor. Bill was best at building friendships and touching lives.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Wilma Robertson Sexton; three children, Addie Katherine Rolfs, John Edward Sexton and William Hartson Sexton, IV; two step-children, Brian Adair Robertson (Jennifer) and Brandon E. Robertson (Amber); two brothers, John Sexton and George Brian Sexton; four step-grandchildren, Ona, Trinity, Junah and Tyler; a special friend, Jackie Nappa; and many other friends and relatives.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Beam Funeral Service. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Warren and Rev. Richard Merritt officiating.
