On the evening of Friday, August 30, 2019, William Claude “Dub” Anthony, age 80, passed away at his residence with his family by his side. A native of Swain County, Dub was born on August 24, 1939 to the late Claude and Minnie Hall Anthony.
Along with his parents, Dub is preceded in death by a great-grandson, Hoyt Huskins.
Dub was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church and formally worked at Old Fort Finishing and later retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Company. He enjoyed golfing and gardening, but most of all he loved his family.
Dub is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Margaret Anthony; four children, Teresa Edwards (Donald), Kenneth Anthony (Pam), Vicky Huskins (Scott) and Lisa A. Hudson (J.R.). Also surviving Dub are ten grandchildren, Natosha Martin (Eric), Eugene Edwards (Rebecca), Chris Edwards (Laura), Jessica Milam (Luke), Riannon Anthony, Savannah Johnson (Jeremiah), Amanda Kuczynski (Dan), Jonah Huskins (Candace), Michael Hudson (Kim) and Cody Hudson; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Norma Lee Huffman (Gary).
A funeral service for Dub will take place on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Sugar Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Michael Robinson and Freddie Siegfried officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
