Warren Gilmer Clark, Sr, age 93, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Memorial Campus of Asheville, North Carolina after a short illness. He was born February 18, 1924 in Scott County, Virginia, to the late Worley and Grace Bledsoe Clark.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by the love of his life of fifty-one years Hazel Wiseman Clark who passed away in 1997. Also, preceding Mr. Clark is a sister Geraldine Clark Moscardini and a brother Harrell Clark.
Warren worked as an agent operator for the Clinchfield Railroad for forty years. Mr. Clark retired in 1984 and enjoyed thirty-three years of retirement. He was a member of the Vesper 0554 Masonic Lodge in Spruce Pine. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed his hobby of tinkering with his collection of HO scale trains, helping his son at his sawmill, going out to eat, and spending time with his family. Warren attended Concord United Methodist Church in the Ashford community where he was the oldest living member of his church until his passing.
Warren spent the last two years in Autumn Care of Marion, North Carolina. He enjoyed his stay there and had many friends. He especially loved and appreciated the fine care that the CNA’s and nursing staff provided for him.
Warren is survived by one son, W.G. Clark, Jr. (Kimberlee), one daughter, Maxine Clark Quinn (Mike); two brothers, W.H. Clark, Jr. (Callie Anne) and Gary Clark (Pat). Also, surviving Mr. Clark are four grandchildren, Andrew and Adam Quinn and Lesley and Lynn Clark; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Warren’s life will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Concord United Methodist Church at 12:00 p.m. with the Reverends Carroll Miller and Chester West officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow, with masonic rites, in the church cemetery.
