Mr. Walter Elbert McPeeters, while surrounded by his loved ones, passed away following a brief battle with cancer on the night of Saturday, May 4, 2019, at his residence in the North Cove Community. The son of the late Arthur Charles McPeeters and Bertha Silver McPeeters McGinnis, he was born in McDowell County on October 26, 1941.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl McPeeters and Clarence McPeters; and three sisters, Grace Robinson, Doris Morgan and Ruby Revis.
Walter enjoyed reading, fishing, and had a love of collecting many different things. For many years he was a self-employed electrician, and following retirement, he proudly worked at the Woodlawn Convenience Center.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 56 years, Crystal McKinney McPeeters; three children, Cindy Henderson (Allen), Donnie McPeeters and Debbie Bragg; five grandchildren, Chrissy Robinson, Derek Robinson, Donnie “DJ” McPeeters, Jr., Libby Henderson and Adam Henderson; and five great grandchildren, Johnathon Robinson, Lexi Robinson, Spencer McPeeters, Wran McPeeters and Raylyn Raines. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Jean McPeeters and Martha Farr (Jerry).
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service and Crematory.
