Von Taylor

Von David Taylor, age 76, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina with his loving family by his side. A native of McDowell County, Von was the son of the late R.A. and Hazel Moody Taylor.

Von was a member of Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church and was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1958. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed working and being at the Old Fort Golf Course. He was also an all-conference football player and was able to represent North Carolina in the shrine bowl. Von was a man of integrity and a man of his word. He loved Marion, North Carolina but mostly he loved his family and his Lord.

Von is survived by the love of his life of fifty-four years, Patricia Allen Taylor; three children, Roxanne Vess (Keith), David Taylor (Sandra) and Kimberly Taylor; two sisters, Margaret Arrowood (Norman), Brenda Hemphill (John); three brothers, Henry Taylor (Janis), Rex Taylor and Alan Taylor (Glenna). Also, surviving Von are three grandchildren, Lynsie Sanders (Ellison), Logan Taylor and Alixandria Taylor; one great-grandson, Weston Sanders and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate Von’s life will take place Friday, November 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church with Reverend Josh Hayes and Mr. David Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
