Virginia Ann Hartwell Vaughan, 76, of Nebo, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.
Virginia was born in Mercier County, West Virginia, on May 18, 1946, to the late Andrew Hartwell and Ellen Brown Hartwell. She was married to the late Robert Vaughan. Virginia was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She was quite a conversationist and loved spending time with her friends. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a son, Bryant Vaughan; two brothers, Melvin Riggs and Joseph Hartwell; and a sister-in-law, Roberta Hartwell.
Those left to cherish her memory include four children, Scottie Vaughan (Penny), Vincent Vaughan, Tammy Jobe, and Kimberly McNeely, all of Marion; two brothers, Jerry Hartwell (Lisa) of Princeton, WV, whom Virginia helped to raise like a son, and Michael Hartwell (Darlene) of WV; a special granddaughter, Marissa McNeely; ten grandsons; and twenty four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Mike Hartwell officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Burial will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Courtney Ellison for the compassionate care she provided.
