Virginia Jones

 Virginia Ann Rogers Jones, 77, of Newland, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

 Virginia was born in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, on October 5, 1947, to the late Mildred M. Crouse and Bill Combs. She was married to the late Charles Lee Jones, Sr., her beloved husband of 51 years. Virginia was a member of Mountain View Church in Newland and was known by many as Mom, Maw, and Nanny. She was a “one of a kind,” loving and Godly lady who loved to cook and sew. Virginia loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren, Kessie and Braylin. She will always be loved and remembered. 

 In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a grandson-in-law, Steven Hill. 

 Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Charles Lee Jones, Jr. (Dorcas) and James Allen Jones (Angie); two daughters-in-law, Holly Poole and Julie Hughes; two brothers, Billy Combs (Shelly) and David Wayne Combs; six grandchildren, Morgan Hill, Colby Jones (Stacy), Michalea Jones (Ryan), Patrick Jones, Miria Phillips (Dalton), and Alexis Jones; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several brothers & sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members & friends. 

 A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Mountain View Church in Newland. Pastor Jude Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.

 The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Ashley, Penny, and others at Medi Home Hospice, for the wonderful care they provided Virginia.
