Viola Briggs

Mrs. Viola Styles Briggs, age 100, of Marion North Carolina, departed this earthly world to be with the Lord on Monday, December 02, 2019 at the CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville North Carolina with her loving family by her side. Born on September 08, 1919, in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Hayes Styles and Emma Jane Hughes Styles.

A devoted pastors’ wife, Viola was an avid quilter and gardener who had a special love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and most of all, spending quality time with those she loved.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. David Bristo Briggs.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her four children, Annie Mae Allison (Carl), Mary Nunnally (Butch), Matthew Briggs (Clara), Charles Monroe Briggs (Barbara); six grandchildren, Crystal Allison, Cheryl Allison, Jeffery Nunnally, Shaun Nunnally, Amy Band (Philip), and Leighann Ayers (Jeff). She also Leaves behind five great grandchildren, Kellen Lindsay, Darren Jones, Michael Jones, Dylan Jones, and Ian Briggs Gilliam, as well as one great-great granddaughter, Angel.

A funeral service to celebrate Viola’s homegoing will be held on Saturday, December 07, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Interment will follow the service at the Will Young Cemetery in Yancey County.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
