Vickie Gardner Milam, age 58, of Marion, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on the morning of Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Duke University Hospital in Durham. Her loving family was by her side. The daughter of the late Bobby and Clara Webb Gardner, she was born in McDowell County on January 15, 1961.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a very special father-in-law, Rev. Robert Milam; her grandmother, Nellie Mae Webb; one grandson, Gregory Ray Hudson; and two infant grandchildren whom she called her “Angel Babies”.
Vickie was a faithful wife, loving mother and incredible grandmother, but above all, she wanted to share with the world, the love of Jesus Christ. She was anointed and gifted in many areas where God called her to minister. If you needed love, food or guidance, Vickie took great pride in helping those in need, young or old. She enjoyed traveling with her family to North Myrtle Beach where she loved the ocean and felt the closes to God.
Following many years, she retired as office manager at Marion Family Dental which was formally Dr. James Gaskill DDS Dentistry in Marion. She was a faithful member of Thrive Church in Morganton.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving husband of 42 years, Gerald “Jerry” Milam; one daughter, Hannah Riddle (Justin); one son, Luke Milam (Jessica); two bonus sons, Christopher Milam (Tisha) and Steven Milam; six grandchildren, Bentley, Maggie, Macayden, C.J., Tiffany and Scott; three great grandchildren, Ivan, Tony and Caileigh; and her mother-in-law, Lenna Seay Milam. Vickie is also survived by her God sisters, Kathy Cole, Sharon Long, Linda Randolph, Brenda Stafford and Tammy Barrier; special cousin who was more like a sister to her, Claudia Rumfelt; along with many other cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Thrive Church, 518 W. Fleming Drive in Morganton with Pastor Paul Kidd officiating.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Milam’s memory are asked to consider, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or by visiting www.stjude.org.
