On the morning of Saturday, May 06, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, Velma L. Wilson, age 83, of Marion, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord while at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Black Mountain. Born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on June 02, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Mabel Bryant.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Velma deeply loved the lord. In 1955 she became an ordained minister; and for 60 years, she along with her late husband, Rev. Ted Wilson “Shepherd” who passed away April 26, 2012, served the Lord.
She is survived by one son, Michael Wilson (Patricia); two daughters, Rachael Maxwell (Cliff); and Dori Jones; four grandchildren, Micah Wilson, Maren Oslund, J.W. Maxwell and Gabe Jones; and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. Wilson will be held on Tuesday, May 09, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
A private inurnment will be held at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Morganton.
