Vaughtie Rebecca McPeters Simmons

Vaughtie Rebecca McPeters Simmons, 91, of Marion, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

She was born in the Pensacola Community of Yancey County on December 12, 1933 to the late Joseph McPeters and Mary McMahan McPeters. Vaughtie was formerly employed at American Thread and Washington Mills. Her family was her greatest blessing in life. She adored her late husband, Harold Simmons. They had a love like no other. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her daughters and grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Tiea Simmons; and all her siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Tanya Hunter (Steve); three grandchildren, Emily Sellars (Tommy), Caitlin Proffitt (Jared), and Andrew Hunter (Sarah); and three great-grandchildren, Charlie Sellars, Nora Proffitt, and Jack Proffitt.

In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned.
