Ulf “Teddy” Ekberg, son of Harold and Randi, born in the 1000-year-old small town of Sarpsborg, Norway, second child of two other siblings, his older brother Bjorn and younger sister Unni.
An avid seaman, maritime engineer, architect and bush pilot, he traveled the globe by boat, train, plane, and automobile. Best known for his career as chief engineer of and in their time the world’s largest hydrofoils. Following the ships from the ports in Scandinavia to the east and west coast shores of Canada and the United States were his family whom regard him as a power house of love, strength, ideas, and ability.
He is survived, loved and missed by his younger sister Unni, wife Anna, 5 children Anita, Tommy, Sofia, Linda, and Alexis; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Teddy’s life will be held Friday, November 16, at 6:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory located at 2170 Rutherford Road, Marion NC 28752. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Teddy’s memory are asked to consider donations to Mt. Mitchell Shrine Club, Post Office Box 303, Marion, North Carolina 28752.
