Tillman Byrd, Jr.

Tillman Byrd (Junior), age 73, of Marion, while surrounded by his loving family, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Charles George VA Medical Center’s Hospice & Palliative Care in Asheville.  The son of the late Tillman Byrd, Sr. and Rosie Bradford Brown, he was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on October 16, 1943.  He is also preceded in death by his step-mother, Betty Byrd.

Junior, who never met a stranger, loved driving his Ford truck and going fishing.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Jane Catherine Byrd; two step-daughters, Sandra Huffman and Rebecca Cable; two brothers, Ray Byrd and his wife, Janet; and Donnie Byrd and his wife, Cheri; one sister Judy Elliott; and one step-sister, Betty Hoyle-Wind.  Junior is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Christina Walden, Jamie Walden Cooper and her husband David, Jennifer Walden and Kelly Huffman; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service in Marion.
