Tilda Wright

Tilda Mace Wright, age 84, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  Tilda was born March 07, 1933 in Rutherford County, North Carolina to the late Rufus and Net Mace.

She worked at Cross Cotton Mill until its closing in 1990; and she worked as a greeter at the Marion Wal-Mart.  She enjoyed reading her bible, flowers, camping with her family; and playing with her grandchildren.  Tilda was a long-time member of New Manna Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Danny Wright; and a great granddaughter, Autumn Klein.

A loving mother, sister and grandmother, Tilda is survived by one son, Michael Wright (Kathy) of Marion; one daughter Teresa Cody (Keith) of Marion; one sister, Louann Styles of Marion; five grandchildren, Brandy Griffin, Martha Cologgi, Amber Cate, Ashely Wright and Cole Wright; seven great grandchildren, Tyler Griffin, Brittany Lowery, Jerry Johnson, Michael Griffin, Brendon Klein, Landon Cate and Carleigh Cate; and three great-great grandchildren, Thomas Lowery, Isaiah Lowery and Jeremy Griffin.  She is also survived by a special nephew, Kevin Proctor, special friend Muff Blankenship; one sister-in-law, Jenny Mace; and one brother-in-law, Emmett McKinney.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at New Manna Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Shirley and Pastor Matt McDaniel officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
