Thomas "Tommy" Burleson

On the afternoon of Monday, April 29, 2019, following a brief illness, Thomas “Tommy” Burleson, age 57, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville.  The son of Pansy Medford Burleson of Marion and the late Hubert Harry Burleson, he was born in Sumter, South Carolina on April 26, 1962.

Tommy was known as being a very talented artist and enjoyed working on hot rods, guns and being outdoors, especially when it came to hunting. 

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Yvonne Burleson; one son, Joshua Thomas Burleson (Megan); one sister, Kathy McMullen; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Burleson; two grandchildren, Alani and Aiden; and two nephews, Travis Mace and Brian Mace.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Richard Merritt officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. 

Tommy was a strong supporter of animal adoption and had fostered many animals.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Burleson’s memory are asked to consider your local humane society.
