On the morning of Friday, May 01, 2020, while surrounded by his loved ones, Thomas Nelson Pack, Jr., who had just celebrated his 70th birthday, passed away at his residence in Old Fort. The son of the late Thomas and Dovie Loftin Pack, he was born in Asheville, North Carolina on April 29, 1950.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Pack, who passed away on December 31, 2008; one daughter, Katherine Miller; three sisters, Barbara Craig, Dale Duckett and Kathy Justice; two brothers, Theodore Pack and Johnny Pack; and his canine sidekick, Sasha.
Thomas enjoyed whittling wood, always keeping busy with his hands. Majority of his life he was a handyman, especially if it came to electrical work. A man who always put his wife and kids first, Thomas truly loved his grandkids and animals. In his spare time, he loved to fish, hunt, camping, “tinkering” with guns, crosswords, and last but not least, reading his bible. A member of Salem Free Will Baptist Church in Old Fort, Thomas never gave up, even when his health began to decline several years ago. He always said he wanted to fight until he had turned 70.
Left to cherish his memories are three sons, Adam Pack (Tina), Thomas Pack III and Alvin Pack; two sisters, Helen Moore and Brenda Anderson; and two brothers, James Pack and Troy Pack. Thomas is also survived by eight grandchildren, William Gillis, Thomas Brandon Pack IV, Taylor Correll, Adam Pack, Jr., Dakota Pack, Erica Crouse, Tianna Forbes and Ryan Pack; three great grandchildren, Judah, Lucas and Lyla; a number of nieces and nephews; and his canine companions, Lucy, who was a bugg, and Carly, who was a beagle, were also by his side.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 08, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Cathy, with Pastor Vincent White officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Pack’s memory are asked to consider, the Pack Family, 2170 Rutherford Road, Marion, North Carolina 28752.
