Thomas Michael "Mike" Caldwell

Thomas Michael “Mike” Caldwell, 69, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville with his loving family by his side.

Tom was born December 14, 1954 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. He was the son of Thomas “Tommy” Caldwell and Gladys Mikeal Caldwell.

He was a member of New Manna Baptist Church where he was a faithful giver, usher, and a worker in the bus ministry for many years. He was owner and manager of Phoenix of Hickory as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor where he ministered to countless individuals by sharing his story of addiction but most importantly by sharing his personal testimony of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Tom was survived by his wife of 31 years, Deanna Hensley Caldwell; two sons, Josh Sanders (Alisha) and Justin Sanders (Emily); four grandchildren, Riley, Lylah, Drake, and Jett all of Marion, NC; one sister, Jan Harless of North Wilkesboro, NC; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Tom loved his Lord, family, church, golf, and the UNC Tarheels. He was also an avid fan of Jimmy Johnson.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at New Manna Baptist Church in Marion with Pastor Tony Shirley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
