Thomas “Tom” Robert Hall, Jr., age 83, of Marion, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. A native of McDowell County, Tom was born June 26, 1934 to the late Thomas Robert Hall, Sr. and Pantha Wells Hall.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Hall and two sisters, Edith Liechti and Opal Gregory.
Tom loved to be outside preferably on a tractor. He was a longtime member of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church and retired from NCDOT and Air Preheater. He will lovingly be remembered as the “Juicy Fruit gum man,” he passed out Juicy Fruit gum everywhere he went. He loved to talk to people and often asked, “Do you have a story to tell me?”. Tom was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of sixty-two years, Deanna Hutchins Hall; two children, Thomas “Tommy” Robert Hall, III (Rebecca) of Marion and Carol Burnett of Burlington, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Patrick Burleson, Kenneth Burleson (Amanda), Chelsea Hall, Katherine Burnett and Andrew Burnett; eight great grandchildren; two siblings, Carl Hall of Nebo and Hazel Buchanan of Marion; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Alan Sailors officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
