Thelma Seay Parker, 95, of Glenwood went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, February 8, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born March 21, 1929 in Swain County, NC to the late Uriah Hayes and Gertrude Alice Mull Seay, Thelma was a homemaker who loved her Lord, her family, and her church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Buddy Seay, Hazel Welch, Evelyn Beatty, Oberia Edwards, Lenna Milam, and Jack Seay, her husband of 65 years, Charles Glenn Parker, daughter Debra Sue Parker, and son-in-law Gregory Jack Grant.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Gail Parker Grant of Marion, Kathy Parker Hager (Kevin) of Denver, NC, grandchildren Donna Grant, Michael Grant (Regenia), Christina Hartzell (Ryan), and Joshua Hager, great-grandchildren Jaxon Hartzell, Ryder Hartzell, Will Grant, and Eli Grant, a brother, Arnold Seay, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Thelma made the most important decision of her life in 1950 when she accepted the Lord as her Savior. She was a strong Christian and prayer warrior. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Ladies Prayer Class leader, and choir member for many years. Thelma was a great cook and her table was open to everyone. She used her home as a ministry and served hundreds of preachers, singers, missionaries, church workers, and hungry people over the years. Thelma Parker was the very definition of a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
