Terry Bruce Owens

Terry Bruce Owens, 65, of Shelby, NC left us to pass through the gates of heaven on August 4th of this year after a period of declining health, and he now rests in God’s loving presence. Terry was born on February 5th to his beloved mother, Nellie Owens.

 For these past several years Terry has been in the care of Hope for the Future Guardianship Services and most recently with the Duncan family, Dustin and Katy, Blayk, Daxtin, Corbin, Keegan and Bryson whose affection and care meant so much to Terry and his family. Both Hope for the Future and the Duncan family provided a wonderful environment for him along with his extended Church family from Friendship Baptist Church. He was recently baptized there by Pastor David Bradshaw, and it meant so much to him.

 All who knew Terry will remember him for his fondness for law enforcement. Nothing made him happier than to engage with anyone in uniform, he was always amazed and grateful for their service and was thrilled to be in their presence. Terry was also a wonderful Christian and enjoyed praying with anyone in need. He seemed to sense if a person was burdened, and would often ask to pray for you without being prompted. And he would pray just as loud as you let him.

 Terry is survived by his Aunt Lorretta Izzi, her children Lewis Izzi, Gwen Izzi (son Philip Champion), Kellie Izzi (sons Kyle Izzi and Tyler Jones), Diedra and husband Jody Ridings (son LuJak Ridings and daughter Susannah Greene), also Aunt Judy Wagner and her special friend Mike Dixon, daughter Kelly Beebe and husband Jim (son Michael). And he was greeted at Heaven’s gate by his loving Mother Nellie, and Grandparents Bruce and Connie Brown.

 Friendship Baptist Church will host services on Monday, August 19th at 4PM. They are located at: 100 Pinecove Road, Old Fort, NC 28762.
