Ted Brown

Ted Brown, age 78, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Mission Hospital-McDowell, following a brief illness.  A native of McDowell County, born January 14, 1940, he was the son of the late Carl and Marie Jackson Brown. 

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Gwen Ballew Brown; and one sister, Gearene Brooks. 

A wonderful father, grandfather and brother, Ted always put his family first, in fact, any time his children or grandchildren would be playing a sports event, he would be there to support them.  Ted will be remembered for his love of dancing, bowling, gardening, his daily walks, but most of all, going fishing with his family. 

Left to cherish his memories are his five children, Ted Alan Brown (Leisha), Darryl Brown, Kristin Hollifield (Bobby), Jamie Adam Brown (Shelly) and T.J. Brown (Alexe), all of Marion; one sister, Jeanette Walker of Gastonia; eleven grandchildren, with one on the way; eight great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren, with two on the way. 

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Brown will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Heath Ogle officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
