Talmadge Kirby

Talmadge Kirby, age 87, of Nebo, North Carolina passed away on the evening of Monday, November 11, 2019 at his daughter’s residence with his loved ones by his side.  Born in Mitchell County, North Carolina on December 09, 1931, he was the son of the late George and Nellie Buchanan Kirby. 

He was preceded in death by, in addition to his parents, one grandson, Chris Kirby; one brother, Robert Kirby; and one sister, Jacquard Barrow. 

A wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Talmadge was known as having been a hard worker, even working following retirement, and provider for his family, who he loved dearly.  Talmadge was a member of Muddy Creek Baptist Church in Nebo. 

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 70 years, Juanita Kirby; one son, John Kirby of Marion; two daughters, Kathy Kirby Smith and her husband, John of Bostic and Audrey Kirby Gouge of Marion; one brother, Earl Kirby and his wife, Carol; and six grandchildren, Jacob Kirby, Cheri Kirby Allen, Daniel Paul Johnson II, Heather Juanita Pierce, Richard Lee Gouge and Carrie Ann Griffin.  Talmadge is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.

A celebration of Mr. Kirby’s life will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Daniel McMahan officiating.  Interment will follow at Muddy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
