Sylvia Deview Tanner

Sylvia Deview O’Dear Tanner, age 83, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Autumn Care of Marion.  Born on December 13, 1933 in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe O’Dear and Nishey Carver O’Dear. 

A former resident of Columbus, GA, she was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her church.  While in Columbus, she volunteered to feed the homeless. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Tanner and a son, Ronnie Jones.

Left to cherish her memory are three sons, James Jones, Jr. (Suzanne), Jerald Jones (Lena), & Lynn Jones; a brother, Arthur O’Dear (Stella) and a grandson, Mark Jones.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at McDowell Memorial Park with Rev. Ray Stockton officiating.
