Sydney Dara Nanney

Sydney Dara Nanney, loving daughter, sister and granddaughter, passed away on Thursday, February 02, 2017 at the age of 22.  The daughter of Gerald and Gwen Nanney of Marion, she was born in Avery County, North Carolina on May 31, 1994. 

Sydney was a 2012 graduate of McDowell High; and in her spare time, she enjoyed watching movies.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, J.D. Nanney; and one uncle, Bo Ollis. 

Left to cherish her memories, in addition to her parents, two sisters, Josie Nanney and Lindsey Nanney, both of Marion; one brother, Cayden Nanney of Marion; maternal grandparents, Lake and Rose Ollis of Marion; paternal grandmother, Glennis Nanney of Marion; maternal great grandmother, Zennie Mae McKinney of Newland; and a special friend, Keith Nail of Marion.  She is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

A celebration to honor the life of Sydney will be held on Sunday, February 05, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service, Rutherford Road, Marion, with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home.
