Sydney Marie Davis

Sydney Marie Byars Davis went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC.

Sydney was born on March 24, 1939 in Gaffney, SC to Virginia Vyrle Byars and James Ervin Byars. In addition to her parents, Sydney was preceded in death by her loving husband, Horace “Bud” Davis.

Sydney was previously employed for many years as an office manager at Burlington Industries, and later at Mission Hospital. She was an avid lover of music, including singing and playing piano and organ at Clinchfield Baptist Church for many years. She loved staying active and on-the-go, and especially loved her weekly Tuesday dinners with friends. More than anything, Sydney loved to be surrounded by her family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Wesley Davis and his wife Robin of Shelby, NC; daughter, Leslie Davis Bowman and her husband Michael of Marion, NC; granddaughters Ashley and Lauren Bowman, both of Boiling Springs, SC; granddaughter Megan Davis of Clarksville, TN; grandson Russ Davis of Shelby, NC; and great-grandchildren Gianna and Knox of Clarksville, TN.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Clinchfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Roach officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., two hours prior to the service at the church.
