In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 8, 2019, Stewart “Lurch” Howell Allison, went home to be with the Lord at his residence with his family by his side. Born on November 14, 1967, Stewart was a native of McDowell County and was the son of the late Charles and Mary Ellen Thomas Allison.
Stewart was employed at Wilson Marble for over twenty years. He enjoyed small engine repair and restoring antique furniture. He liked the outdoors hunting, fishing and camping, but mostly he loved his family especially his grandson.
Left to cherish Stewart’s memory are his wife of twenty-seven years, Angela Robertson Allison; two children, Megan Allison Vess (Tyler) and Zachary Howell Allison (Katlyn Huntsinger); he was lovingly known as “Grampy” to his grandson Tytus Vess. Also surviving Stewart are his siblings, Chuck Allison (Cindy), Abby Jordan (Buster), Kim Martin (Gray), Greg (Lori), Vivian, Jeff, Ramona, Sandra, Chris and a number of nieces and nephews and in-laws.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Cherry Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Robertson and Mr. Eric Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Cherry Springs Baptist Church.
