Stephen Mack Buchanan

Stephen Mack Buchanan, 70, of Burnsville, passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Stephen was born in Mitchell County to the late Mack Buchanan and the late Willie Hughes Buchanan on April 30, 1954.

Stephen worked as a correctional officer at Mt. View in Avery County. He enjoyed building model cars and working out at the gym, but mostly he enjoyed spending time and playing with his grandkids.

Along with his parents, a brother, Roger Dale Buchanan; a sister, Janice Buchanan; and a brother-in-law, George Miller preceded him in death.

Surviving Stephen are his wife, Anita Chrisawn Buchanan; his daughter Summer Buchanan (Anthony Lamb); two step-children, Alicia Rouse (Joshua) and Amber Briggs; siblings, Janet Miller, Terry Buchanan (Gaye), Pam Boarders (Ken), Greg Buchanan (Teresa) and Mark "Towhead" Buchanan (Pricilla); three grandchildren, Taylor McKinney, Matthew Nunes and Braxton Nunes; along with several nieces and nephews including, Nathaniel Buchanan and Jerod Buchanan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
