Shirley Ann Banks McCoyle

Shirley Ann Banks McCoyle, 80, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, August 29, 2024 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

She was born in McDowell County on December 28, 1943 to the late Arlond Theodore Banks and Pearl Woodby Banks. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Fred Banks.

Shirley loved the Lord and was a former member of Gethsemane Free Will Baptist Church. She most recently attended Yancey Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed being outdoors, and playing golf was one of her favorite pastimes. Shirley was a faithful wife for nearly sixty years, and she loved to play guitar with her husband. She was also a loving mother and friend. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband, William Franklin McCoyle; her son, William Todd McCoyle (Sherri); two grandsons, Dr. McKenzye McCoyle (Kate) and Morgan McCoyle (Leigha); two great-granddaughters, Macie McCoyle and Madilynn McCoyle; and five nieces, Sherry Lail, Tina Davis, Nancy McKinney, Lisa Lanning, and Stacey Banks.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Revs. Mike Fulbright and David Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
