Shirley Jean Lewis

Shirley Jean Jenkins Lewis, age 83 of Marion, North Carolina passed away on the
afternoon of Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at CarePartners Solace Center in
Asheville. The daughter of the late Albert Grant Jenkins and Mattie Mikeal
Jenkins, she was born in Caldwell County on January 14, 1936.

Shirley had a love for cooking for her family, and had a special love for watching
the Atlanta Braves. She was known by her family as a very loving mother, sister,
and aunt, who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack
David Lewis; seven brothers, Ray, Jay, Jim, Louie, Hoover, Dallas, and Sherrill
Jenkins; and five sisters, Estelle Eller, Mattie Whittington, Elizabeth Honeycutt,
Kathryn Minton, and Mallie Jenkins.

Left to cherish her precious memory is her daughter Carla Roberts, of Marion; two
sisters, Lillie Jenkins, of Lenoir and Janet Jarvis (Mack), of Hudson, and one
brother, John Jenkins (Mable), of Lenoir. She also leaves behind her caregiver and
friend, Amy Allison, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Friday, September 27,
2019, at Hankins Baptist Church at 12:00 P.M. with Revs. Danny White and Steve Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will take place at McDowell Memorial Park
