Shirley Eleanor Lawing Hensley

Shirley Eleanor Lawing Hensley, 79, of Nebo, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 06, 2021 at Autumn Care of Marion.

A native of McDowell County, she was born February 18, 1942 to the late Floyd Lawing and Rittie Pyatt Lawing.

A loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family. She formerly worked as a CNA for Grace Hospital. Shirley will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is preceded in death by, in addition to her parents, her daughter, Crystal Hensley Porter; two brothers, Albert “Ab” Lawing and John “Brisco” Lawing; and four sisters, Opal Howard, Dorothy Merrill, Naomi King, and Hazel Carswell.

She is survived by her son, John M. Hensley, Jr. and wife Tish; four grandchildren, Blake Hensley, Cassidy Hensley, Cade Hensley, and Jeffrey Porter, Jr. and wife Rebekah; and three siblings, Zelda Curtis, Ray “Red” Lawing, and Ralph Lawing.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 08, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverends Freddie Williams and Doug McPeters officiating.
