Shirley Christine Harris Duncan

Shirley Christine Harris Duncan, 86, of Marion, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Mission Hospital McDowell.

She was born October 20, 1936 to the late Joseph and Minnie Loftis Harris. Shirley was a proud resident of the North Cove Community. She retired from American Thread. She enjoyed watching the news and keeping up with world events. Shirley loved shopping, and she frequently visited thrift stores always looking for a good deal. Most of all, her family was closest to her heart. They will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jennings Aaron “Sweetpea” Duncan; daughter, Kathy Regina “Jeannie” Duncan; and two brothers, JD Harris and Max Harris.

She is survived by three children, Cindy Duncan Gragg, Aaron Keith Duncan (Cathy), and Lisa Duncan Allman (Dean); five grandchildren, Josh Gragg (Jessi), Brent Allman (Ashley), Clay Duncan (Mindy), Kala Gragg, and Hayley Duncan (Adam); five great grandchildren, Destiney Guion, Kali Guion, Aubrey Gragg, Eli Duncan, and Tyler Allman; sister, Margie Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
