Shirley Burleson Robinson

Shirley "Maw" Greer Burleson Robinson, age 85, of the Pleasant Gardens Community, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills SECU Inpatient Unit in Forest City, North Carolina with family by her side.  A native of Ashe County, North Carolina, born on January 08, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Docia Shelton Greer. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Burleson, who passed away in 1999; two grandsons, Ronald Burleson and David Burleson; one granddaughter, Rachel Lawson; one sister, Freddie Greer; and five brothers, Charles "Tommy" Greer, Raymond "Sweetie" Greer, Kenneth "Oss" Greer, Franklin "Doc" Greer and Roby "Buddy" Greer.  

A member of Vision Baptist Church in Marion, Shirley enjoyed not only cooking, but partaking in the food she cooked.  An avid Elvis Presley fan, she will be remembered for her amazing gardening and green thumb.  Always taking time to give someone a warm hug, Shirley truly loved her family and loved the Lord.

Left to cherish her precious memories are one daughter, Doris Lawson; two sons, Ronald “Buster” Burleson (Jean) and Donald “Sparky” Burleson (Sue); six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; seven sisters, Virginia "Lee" Potter, Eleanor Burleson, Thelma "Poodle" Brown, Marynell Johnson, Wanda "Doll girl" Roarke, Pauline McMahan and Joevelyn "Dolly" Cornett; one brother, Howard "H" Greer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 03, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor David Bradshaw officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
