Shirley Bartlett

On the evening of Wednesday, May 23, 2018, Shirley Bartlett, age 78, of Marion, North Carolina passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus with her loving family by her side. A native of McDowell County, Shirley was born on October 15, 1939 to the late Clyde and Myrtle Hollifield Bates.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, and one son-in-law Gene Carmney.

Shirley was a lifetime member of Turkey Cove Baptist Church. She was known as a woman who loved the Lord and told everyone she met. She retired from Coats American following forty-three years of service. Shirley loved to sing and was a caregiver her whole life. She loved her family and enjoyed her flowers and trips to the coast.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of sixty-one years, Dealo Bartlett; three children, Donald Bartlett (Barbara Jean), Debra Bailey (Junior) and Carol Carmney. Also surviving Shirley are seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turkey Cove Baptist Church. A funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Turkey Cove Baptist Church with Reverends Junior Bailey and David Edwards officiating. Interment will follow the service at Turkey Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.
