Sherry Linda Durham

On the morning of Sunday, May 02, 2021, Sherry Linda Johnson Durham peacefully departed this life into the hands of our loving Heavenly Father while at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Sherry was born in McDowell County on October 20, 1954 to the late Arthur Carl Johnson and Wanda Ricketts Johnson.

Sherry worked in medical records for McDowell Internal Medicine for many years with Dr. Mark Burton and Dr. Edward St. Bernard. Sherry truly loved the Lord. She was a former member of Greenlee Baptist Church and was most recently a member of West Court Baptist Church. She enjoyed taking photos and was also a great cook.

Sherry will be remembered as a loving wife and sister. Though she had no children of her own, she had a special way with children and mothered many to adulthood. Sherry was known for her sassy spirit, and she will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, William “Eddie” Durham and her sister, Claudia Ricketts (Ronnie Tipton).

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 05, 2021 at West Court Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Revs. Jeff Burchette, Dale Cable, and Steve Durham will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park where Sherry will be laid to rest with her parents.
