Sharon J. Baker

     Sharon J. Baker, 76, of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024, at her residence.

     Sharon was born in McDowell County, NC on March 25, 1948, to Edna Parker Johnson and the late Harry Elzie Johnson, Jr. She was married to her husband of 51 years, Allan Baker. Sharon was a member of the Basilica of Saint Lawrence in Asheville and was an avid reader. She was always full of love and was very devoted to her family. 

     In addition to her father, Sharon was preceded in death by a nephew, Jessie Baker.

     Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Allan Baker; her mother, Edna Johnson; two sons, Todd Baker (Sara) and Joseph Baker (Susan); two brothers, Mike Johnson (Diane) and Daniel Johnson (Robin); a sister, Cindy Swofford (Thomas); a granddaughter, Jenna Baker; a great granddaughter, Ronja Baker; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

     A funeral will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Tony Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. 

     Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities; Manna Food Bank; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
