Scotty Pool, age 66, of the Pleasant Gardens Community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Mountain Ridge Health & Rehabilitation in Black Mountain, with his loved ones by his side. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born on April 28, 1953, he was the son of the late James Calhoun Pool and Victoria Poteat Pool.
Known for his infectious laugh, Scotty enjoyed working and helping others, listening to gospel music, but most of all, spending quality time with his family and making memories. He was a member of Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church.
Scotty is survived by his wife of 16 ½ years, Connie Hall Pool; two sons, Chris Pool and Travis Pool (Adrianne); two step daughters, Crystal Hawkins and Kelly Lester (Chris); one step son, Corey Hall; and four siblings, Harold Pool (Joyce), Joan Glenn (Mickey), Gary Pool (Kathy) and Debbie Ledford (Mike). He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Sarah Pool, Cameron Hess, Kyle Hess, Isabella Lester and Tyler Hawkins; a special aunt, who was like his mother, Charlotte Hughes; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 01, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church with Pastor Harold Webb and Pastor Ethan Hester officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
