Scott, 61, was born July 19, 1963, in Gastonia NC to the late Sarah Faye Greenway Peeler and David L. Peeler. He was a proud graduate of the Class of 1981 from Hunter Huss High School where he was drum captain of the Marching Huskies. Scott went on to obtain a Mechanical Drafting degree from Gaston College and later his Bachelor of Science from the University of Phoenix. He had been employed by Continental Automotive since his and Elaine’s move to the mountains of NC in 2020.
In addition to his father. Scott is survived by his wife, Elaine Ballard Peeler, daughters, Brittney Tallman and husband Mike of Hickory, NC, Jennifer Burris and husband Patrick of Gastonia, NC. Mother and father-in-law Judy and Roger Jenkins of Gastonia NC; brother-in-law (Little brother as Scott affectionately called him) Jeff Jenkins and wife Cindy of Mt. Holly NC. As well as the two little ladies who held his heart – twin granddaughters, Meadow and Willow Tallman.
Scott was an avid fisherman enjoying every minute he spent at Gaston County Wildlife Club. He loved tinkering in his workshop, vacationing at the beach, time around a campfire with friends, playing the drums, and being Poppy to his granddaughters. But most of all, he loved the Lord, his church and his Thompson life group family.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 1 at 2pm at Grace Community Church, Marion NC. Pastor Jerry Lewis will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Community Church building & preschool funds, 5182 U.S. 70 West, Marion, NC 28752 or online at Graceforall.org.
