Sarah Margaret Hollifield Odom

Sarah Margaret Hollifield Odom, 80, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 at Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born in McDowell County on May 1, 1943 to the late Weldon and Estelle Hollifield. 

Sarah Margaret was a graduate of North Cove High School. She worked at Tainter’s Drug Store in Marion before moving to Mount Holly where she lived for many years. She enjoyed working with flowers, spending time at the beach, and fishing. She will be greatly missed by her family. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Odom; a daughter, Baby Girl Lewis; and five siblings, Geneva Mason, Frances Hollifield, Eula Hoppes, James Hollifield, and Georgie Hall.

She is survived by her son, Eric Lewis of Mount Holly; one grandson, Nicholas Lewis of Stanley; two brothers, Donald Hollifield (Ellen) and Jearl Hollifield of Marion; a number of loving nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kim Shannon of Gastonia.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Mark Hollifield officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation for the good care they provided to Sarah Margaret and her family.
