Sarah "Jean" Coleen Edwards

Sarah “Jean” Edwards, age 82, of Old Fort, North Carolina passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Memorial Campus of Asheville. A native of Yancey County, Sarah was born on September 3, 1935 to the late Hiram and Lizzy Silvers Higgins.

Sarah loved to cook. She not only enjoyed life, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family.

Sarah is survived by her husband of sixty one years, D.L. Edwards; one son, Timothy Edwards (Cricket); one sister, Linda Waldrep; and one brother, Estel Higgins (Doris). Also surviving Sarah are a granddaughter, Jennifer Banks (Stacy) and one great-granddaughter, Atley Banks.

A celebration of life for Sarah will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
