Sarah Hensley Good

Sarah Hensley Good, age 102, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, October 09, 2022 after a period of declining health. Sarah was born February 15, 1920 in Buncombe County, North Carolina to Thomas A. and Cora Burleson Hensley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reid “Buck” Good, Jr. who died in 2004, and a grandson, Travis Good. Sara was the last surviving sibling of 13 children.

As the oldest member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church, she was a faithful servant and active member for 67 years. She taught Sunday School for many years and loved singing in the church choir. The two most important things in her life were her church and family. She desired most earnestly to leave a legacy to her family as a good Christian. Sarah loved her family with complete dedication and was always concerned with their welfare. Her family and friends can attest to the power of prayer, as each were touched by the prayers lifted up by her.

For over 30 years, she enjoyed painting as a hobby and many of her paintings were featured in galleries in several counties.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Terry Good (Jan), Jane G. Elliott (David), all of Nebo, NC, Rose Sarawgi (Santosh) of Cincinnati, OH, and Belinda Maupin of Nebo, NC; grandchildren: Jennifer Hawkins (Dusty), Michael Elliott (Melissa), Shavili Sarawgi and Ravi Sarawgi (Courtney); great grandchildren: Christian Good, Audrey Elliott, Hailey Hawkins, and Noah Sarawgi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at Beam Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Douglas Prevette officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Sarah will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at McDowell Memorial Park.
