Sandra Lynn Poteat

Sandra Young Poteat, age 68, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Mitchell House. A native of McDowell County, Sandra was born on October 2, 1950 to the late Ernest and Wilma Randolph Young.

 

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Jim Young.

 

Sandra was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church. She loved working in her flower garden and making flower arrangements. She was known as a wonderful cook, who enjoyed spending time and caring for her family.

 

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of forty-nine years, Jerry W. Poteat; three children, Kevin Poteat (Lisa), Kim Hensley (Mike) and Christy Taylor (Jeremy); and one sister, Pat Fender (Frank). Also surviving Sandra are five grandchildren, Jordan Corl (Tim), Alex Poteat, Hayley Taylor, Brooklynn and Victoria Hensley.

 

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Cross Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Ryan Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church.
